The Delivery Manager (Defence) is a new position within the recently created TEKEVER Defence Division.
Tekever Defence is responsible for the development and delivery of Tekever’s capability offering to the defence market. It is split into 4 main departments – Defence Technologies, Delivery, Operations, and BD & Strategy.
The Delivery unit is responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of TEKEVER’s defence contracts, working closely with customers, industry partners, and colleagues across TEKEVER to ensure success.
As a Delivery Manager you will oversee the delivery of major projects within TEKEVER Defence, working closely across a range of defence customers. You will be the driving force of your projects, coordinating and cohering activity across the wider TEKEVER group in advance of the project objectives.
You will manage the project’s schedule, battle-rhythm, finances, risks, and resources, delegating where necessary. Being comfortable leading a cross-functional team in a matrix format will be critical to your success. You will be a strong planner and innovative thinker, designing new and exciting methodologies to ensure the successful delivery of world leading capabilities. You will also lead customer communication working closely with procurement organisations and end users to ensure TEKEVER not only delivers on its contractual obligations, but meets ambitious capability expectations. This is not a traditional project management role; you will be given a high degree of trust and autonomy – in exchange you will be expected to thrive off your own initiative, pro-actively problem solving issues and driving a culture of exceeding customer expectations.
The successful applicant will have an exceptional track record of delivery with strong evidence of your ability to solve complex problems under tight timelines. This could be within a defence or wider industry context. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills is a must as is an ability to quickly understand and communicate complex technical issues. Attention to detail, a meticulous planner and the ability to balance multiple complex issues concurrent are all essential. Above all you will have a passion for the industry with the drive and determination to make your contribution the exciting field of autonomy and UAS.
You will be expected to travel frequently to customer locations in the UK, Portugal, US and Europe.
Office working for a minimum of 3 days a week in South West England is essential.
Standard hours but a willingness to work extended hours (evening or weekends) in the event of urgent operational requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Agile Project Leadership – Lead and manage multiple projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with company objectives.
- Governance - Establish and maintain appropriate project governance, where necessary reporting issues and risks up to the leadership team.
- Leadership – lead cross functional teams across the Tekever business under a matrix model.
- Deliver – Lead the delivery of complex projects ensuring Tekever contractual and capability commitments are met.
- Project Reporting – maintain regular communication internal throughout the life of a project. Develop reporting formats tailored to the reader to ensure appropriate levels of detail are readily available.
- Customer Relations – develop positive working relationships with customers, building a deep understanding of their requirements.
Essential Competencies:
- Proven experience of delivering complex projects under tight time pressures.
- Leadership Experience
- Stakeholder Management – experience of developing and managing relationships with senior stakeholders internally and externally.
Desirable Competencies:
- Project Management Qualification (e.g. PRINCE 2, APM PMQ, Agile-based qualifications).
- An undergraduate degree in a STEM subject.
- Post Graduate education in relevant field.
- Experience of working in the defence or aerospace sector.
- Experience of managing technical workloads with cross-functional teams.
- UAS Industry Knowledge (Aircraft/Sensors/Systems).
